- Fully electric roasting line
- Throughput of 20.000 metric tons/year
- 2.5x less energy consumption
Future-proof coffee roasting
The coffee roasting industry today faces many challenges. Mitigating the impact of climate change while replacing traditional methods with more sustainable solutions is but one of them. To meet net-zero targets, the sector needs to eliminate fossil fuels. But until now, no technically and economically viable solutions have been available on an industrial scale. Finally, standing out from the crowd is crucial in the highly competitive coffee market.
This is why Sucafina and Beyers Koffie joined CEE to build a large-scale, fully electric coffee roasting line. Sucafina's goal is to be the leading global sustainable farm-to-roaster coffee company, a worldwide frontrunner when it comes to sustainability throughout its entire supply chain. Beyers Koffie, the largest coffee roaster in Belgium, has recognized in CEE's high-precision technology the potential to strengthen its competitive position.
You can watch an interview with Cory Bush, CEO of Koffie Beyers, that was broadcast on Kanaal Z, a Belgian business channel, in December 2023.
By creating a solution tailored to Beyer's process parameters, we help them:

Why go full-electric?
Both technical and economic advantages back the complete electrification process by our cleantech.
Eliminating fossil fuels and peak loads
Utilizing electricity powered by renewable energy completely eliminates the need for fossil fuels. Traditional roasting operations, like those present at Beyers, rely on substantial energy consumption peaks to meet each roasting batch's high heating and cooling demands. Unfortunately, this makes the combustion of fossil fuels a necessity, as the electricity grid cannot accommodate the necessary peak loads. Switching to hydrogen would be overly expensive.
Not anymore! With the implementation of our cleantech, the roasting process becomes continuous, and the energy demand is stable. This eliminates the need for peak demands during the roasting process, allowing for seamless integration with the grid or a renewable energy supply.
2.5 less energy consumption than the industry standard
With a focus on efficiency and sustainability, our cleantech boasts an impressive energy consumption. Compared to current industry standards, it is 2,5 times lower. It also emits zero CO2 emissions from fuel combustion. Maximizing heat recovery, our solution sets a new benchmark for energy efficiency in the global coffee roasting industry.
Precision roasting
Transitioning to a sustainable roasting process must be done while creating rich flavor and homogenous quality. Therefore, central to our technology is the fusion of precision control and operational flexibility, allowing coffee roasters to craft and master their perfect roast.
By centering the technology around your process parameters, we make it possible to fine-tune every aspect of your recipe with accuracy. Real-time measurements and flexible steering for each roasting zone result in an unprecedented level of control over the entire roasting journey.
- rich aroma and flavor development
- high flexibility within recipes, including a rapid rise in temperature
- versatile application of a spectrum of recipes
- swift transitions between different recipe configurations
This customized approach allows unprecedented control over your recipes, unlocking new consistency and performance excellence levels. From heightened throughput and yield to enhanced safety measures and odor treatment, our solution elevates every aspect of the roasting process. We look at the bigger picture and go the extra mile.
Performance excellence
High throughput
CEE's roasting technology can process up to 24.000 metric tons per year and up to 3 metric tons/hour.
A safer technology
Our technology reduces the risk of fire hazards. Unlike conventional processes where silver skins may catch fire in the drum, our technology enables the safe evacuation of silver skins post-roasting and can be safely operated entirely automated.
Easier treatment of odor issues
Traditional roasters rely on water quenching, generating steam and odor nuisance. Unlike this, our cleantech’s air-cooling solution enables a more efficient and environmentally friendly deodorizing, whether catalytic or direct.
